aufs and --with-pthreads

If I understand it correctly, aufs always needs pthreads. Is there any
reason not to automatically check for pthreads if
--enable-storeio=foo,aufs,bar is encountered?

I know there is --enable-aufs as a shortcut, I'm talking in addition to
that - to save experimenters from themselves.
